View DetailsBooking a Udawalawe safari from Ella is the easiest way to combine hill-country scenery with the best wild-elephant viewing in Sri Lanka. We handle pickup, park entry, jeep, and a licensed naturalist guide — all for a flat per-person rate with no hidden fees.
Ella → Wellawaya → Thanamalvila → Udawalawe
The drive from Ella to Udawalawe is one of the most scenic legs in southern Sri Lanka — descending from the hill country through Ravana Falls, past Wellawaya and Thanamalvila, before opening onto the plains that border the national park. Most travellers leave Ella by 4:30 AM to catch the 6:00 AM park opening for the morning safari.
Morning safari is strongly recommended from Ella — you leave while the hill country is still cool and arrive at the park gate when wildlife is most active. Evening safaris are possible but require staying the night nearby.
We collect you directly from your Ella accommodation. The driver contacts you the night before to confirm pickup time. If you're travelling onward to Yala, Mirissa, or Tangalle the same day, we'll drop your luggage at the next hotel instead of returning to Ella.
All tours include hotel pickup, park entry, private jeep, and licensed guide.
