What Your Private Quote Includes
Udawalawe safari rates vary by group size, pickup city, season, and add-ons, so every quote is built for your exact party rather than listed as a public tier. Here is what every quote we send you covers by default:
- Every quote is all-inclusive. No hidden park, tracker, vehicle, or fuel surcharges at the gate.
- Private 4×4 jeep reserved in your name. You will never share the vehicle with strangers.
- Licensed tour operator registered with Sri Lanka Tourism (SLTDA). Insured jeep, vetted driver, trained naturalist.
- Price-match promise: if a comparable licensed operator quotes less for the same itinerary, we match it within 12 hours.
- Written quote delivered by WhatsApp or email within 60 minutes of inquiry (9 AM – 9 PM Sri Lanka time).
What Shapes Your Quote
Four inputs drive the exact number on your private quote. Share them with us and we will reply with an itemised quote by WhatsApp or email within 60 minutes:
Group size (1–6)
Jeeps hold up to six guests, so couples, families, and small groups effectively share the private-jeep cost. Larger groups pay less per person.
Pickup location
Pickups inside the Udawalawe / Embilipitiya belt are included; longer transfers from Ella, Mirissa, Yala, Tissamaharama, or Colombo are quoted as a separate transfer line.
Season & park fees
Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation adjusts park-entry and tracker fees periodically, peak-season quotes reflect the current published rate.
Add-ons
Elephant Transit Home (ETH) entry, packed breakfast / hot lunch, professional photography, and overnight accommodation are optional and priced per guest.

Why travellers pick the full-day
- Double sighting windows (morning + evening), 2× the chance of rare sightings vs a half-day.
- Licensed tour operator, Sri Lanka Tourism registered, 10+ years in Udawalawe.
- Private jeep. No sharing, itinerary flexes around what you want to see.
- ETH (Elephant Transit Home) add-on on the return. See orphaned calves being fed.
Know Before You Go
- Start time: 5:30 AM hotel pickup. Bring a light layer for the cool dawn drive through the reservoir zone.
- Best months: December–March for dry-season elephant herds; June–September is peak sloth-bear season around fruiting Palu trees.
- Photography: A 200–400mm zoom handles elephants and raptors; a wide-angle lens captures the reservoir and scrub landscapes at golden hour.
- Park rules: Stay inside the jeep at all times, no flash photography, and keep voices low within 30 metres of any animal.
- Accessibility: Jeeps have fixed side steps. Let us know in advance if you need a step-stool, extra cushion, or a slower pace.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a full-day Udawalawe safari?
About 10–11 hours total door-to-door: 5:30 AM pickup, two park drives (morning and evening), midday break, and a sunset return. You spend roughly 6 hours inside the park.
Is the full-day safari worth the extra cost over a half-day?
Yes if wildlife variety matters. Leopards, sloth bears, and rare birds are most active at dawn and dusk. Only the full-day catches both windows. Half-day is fine for "just see elephants"; full-day is for serious wildlife.
What is included in the price?
Private 4×4 jeep, licensed naturalist guide, park entrance and tracker fees, hotel pickup/drop-off within the Udawalawe region, bottled water, and binoculars.
Can we visit the Elephant Transit Home (ETH) as part of this tour?
Yes. It is a 10-minute drive from the park. We typically add it on the return leg so you catch the 3:00 PM or 6:00 PM feeding session. There is a small separate entrance fee.
What should I bring on a full-day safari?
Light long sleeves (morning is cool), a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, closed shoes, a refillable water bottle, and a camera with zoom lens. We provide drinking water and binoculars.
Are children allowed on the full-day tour?
Yes, the full-day is family-friendly, though we recommend age 6+ due to the length. The jeep has shade, and the midday break gives kids a rest. Under-6s usually prefer the half-day.
